Voice & Saxophone
Ever since they first met at the Cologne University of Music in 2013, Magdalena Lapaj and the Belgian soprano singer Sheva Tehoval have been making music together, sharing their mutual interest for the new music. The duo Tehoval/Lapaj was taking classes from Barbara Maurer and Professor David Smeyers at the Cologne University of Music and within a short time has become very successful. Already 2014 Magdalena and Sheva won the 2nd Prize at the International Competition for Interpretation of Contemporary Music in Karlsruhe.
These two energetic young musicians have been working in this original cast with the composer Walter Zimmerman on his works intended for voice and saxophone:
CD Walter Zimmermann: Lieder für Einzelstimmen und Ensembles "Voces" 2022 (Mode, DDD, 2022)
The duo Tehoval/Lapaj is striving to promote this so far mostly unfamiliar repertoire and to inspire young composers, so that more works for this unique combination of voice and saxophone are created.
The duo Duo Tehoval/Lapaj creates an absolutely new sound experience for the listeners and in a wonderful manner blends the “instruments” into one. The combination of saxophone with the human voice has opened for the duo completely new avenues and musical horizons. The piano performance by Elmira Sayfullayeva gives an elegant completion to the concert program.
The concert program „The Paradoxes“ with works of W.Zimmermann, L.Berio, W.Jacobi, T.Kessler and others.
